Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Perkovic attended the University of Pittsburgh (1989) and received his teaching certification from California State University, Northridge (2005).
After graduation, Perkovic served as a radio DJ for WYEP-FM, Pittsburgh and later WXDX-FM, Pittsburgh. He also recorded several CD albums with his band, Puppetshow. In 1998, he left Pennsylvania for California where he began his teaching career in 1999.
From 1999 to 2013 Perkovic taught special education classes at Irving Middle School. In the Fall of 2013, he spent a semester at Portola M.S. in Reseda before joing the Sotomayor staff at Artlab in the winter of 2014. Since the Fall of 2014, Perkovic has been teaching special education at SoHDA.
Currently, Mr. Perkovic enjoys running the ALO (Acoustic Lunchtime Open-mic), assisting Mr. Levine with Coffeehouse, and recording/editing the school’s many plays and performances.
